24 July 2026, Urja Auditorium, Patna: Under “Medal Lao, Naukri Pao”, the Chief Minister handed appointment letters to 19 athletes. Fast bowlers Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar, who have played for India, were appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police. The Chief Minister described this as the first time Bihar had given a sportsperson a post as senior as DSP without the usual examination. Athlete Piyush Raj was appointed Sub-Inspector of Police. Five of the 19 were para-athletes. Director General Ravindran Shankaran said 180 athletes had been given government jobs over two years. The Times of India spells the first bowler Akashdeep. The Hindu and ETV Bharat use Akash Deep. It is the same player.
Cheques the same day, under Khel Samman: Setu Mishra received ₹37.5 lakh for gold and silver at the Asian Under-23 Athletics Championships, 2026. Vibhaskar Kumar received ₹2 lakh for representing India in an international competition. Chess player Mariyam Fatima, also reported as Mariam Fatima, received ₹9 lakh for a bronze at the Commonwealth Youth Chess Championship, 2026.
Scholarships for 2026–27, from the ETV Bharat account of the same function: 637 athletes in all. Under Utkarsh, 21 athletes receive ₹20 lakh a year. Under Saksham, 184 receive ₹5 lakh a year. Under Prerana, 432 receive ₹3 lakh a year. The three groups add up to 637.
What the Chief Minister said about facilities: A panchayat-level talent search would begin on 15 September 2026. Five thousand playgrounds had been built in two years. Redevelopment of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Patna, was under way, its operation handed to the BCCI, with seating of about 40,000 in that redevelopment account. A Sports University had been established in Nalanda. He also said three World Cup-level events had been held in the state and India had won all three. Report the stadium figure and the three events as the Chief Minister’s statement of 24 July 2026. The seating figure belongs to this current-affairs account of the redevelopment. It is not a revision of an older geography lesson on the stadium’s earlier capacity.
