Figure 5.2.1 presents the Land Utilization in Bihar (2018-19) in percentage: Net Sown Area: 55.2%; Non Agricultural Use: 18.4%; Current Fallow: 10.6%; Forest: 6.6%; Barren and Unculturable Land: 4.6%; Land under Tree Crops: 2.7%; Other Fallow Land: 1.3%; Culturable Waste: 0.5%; Permanent Pastures: 0.2%.
The area under the forests has remained unchanged at 6.6%. In 2016-17, the net sown area was 56.6% which has decreased to 55.2% in 2018-19. The cropping intensity has decreased to 1.43.
