Renewable Energy & BREDA:
To combat climate change and expand clean energy, the State Government created the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA). BREDA is currently executing grid-connected rooftop solar plants under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan and solar mini-grids.
Bihar Policy for Promotion of New and Renewable Energy Sources 2011:
- Promotes biogas, solar water heaters, street lighting, solar steam generation, and wind mapping.
- Key Operational Plants: 82.5 MW bagasse-based co-generation plants in sugar mills and a 1 MW biomass power plant are currently operational.
- 9 minor hydroelectric projects of 10.7 MW were executed by BSHPC to harness non-conventional energy.
